SYSTEM CLEANER & DEGREASER
PROTOCOL® SC-101
Water-based blend of chelating and sequestering agents designed to convert insoluble compounds into water-soluble forms, making it easy to remove system contaminants. SC-101 effectively removes corrosion and mineral scales, and converts compounds with copper, aluminum, zinc, iron, and lead into water-soluble forms for easy removal from hydronic and closed loop systems.
Field use has proven that SC-101 is highly effective in cleaning most systems in one application when used in conjunction with PROTOCOL SD-102 System Degreaser for new materials of construction, or systems containing oil and grease residue or removal of foulants such as silicate-based inhibitors. SC-101 is non-hazardous and biodegradable. *Spent solution may contain hazardous elements and should be disposed of accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
To minimize flash rusting after the initial cleaning, 1-2v% of an appropriate NoPit™ inhibitor solution should be added to the final rinse as a lay-up inhibitor for initial system passivation.
Typical Applications:
- Closed Loop Hydronic Systems
- Commercial HVAC Systems
- Natural Gas Water Bath Heaters
- Natural Gas Dehydration Systems
- Standby Generators
- Stationary Compression Engines
PROTOCOL® SD-102
Water-based blend of anionic and nonionic surfactants designed to wet surfaces, reduce surface tension and emulsify hydrocarbon, oil, grease, tar, and cosmoline. When used in conjunction with PROTOCOL SC-101, system cleaning, degreasing, and descaling can be accomplished effectively in one step by enhancing wetting characteristics for quicker scale dissolution.
SC-101 and SD-102 are specifically formulated with a near-neutral pH for ease of use opposed to harsh acidic or highly alkaline solutions that require special handling and can be particularly aggressive to system metals and seals and gaskets.
SD-102 has no significant effect on seals or elastomers commonly found in most systems and will not cause swelling of materials such as polyurethane, epoxy, primer, or PVC. SD-102 is free of heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and inorganic phosphates and is biodegradable and not classified as a hazardous substance. *Spent solution may contain hazardous elements and should be disposed of accordance with federal, state and local regulations.
Typical Applications:
- Closed Loop Hydronic Systems
- Commercial HVAC Systems
- Natural Gas Water Bath Heaters
- Natural Gas Dehydration Systems
- Standby Generators
- Stationary Compression Engines
